Oral evidence on the Children’s Hearing Bill - Nico has already circulated an update. Overall, the proposals are a mixed bag, with the lack of attention to the age of criminal responsibility being the biggest disappointment, but still room for some hope.
I spoke at an SPS seminar in Polmont YOI on the issue of children of prisoners. It provided an excellent opportunity to speak about A Right Blether and Katie and Cathy will follow up to the 16/17 hall unit manager to contract into a Right Blether. It will also provide the basis for including young people from care aged up to 21 years to be involved – still to work out the detail on this.
