Visit to Polmont YOI – Katie present. We met the Governor (soon to retire) and visited Blair House. This is the government response to the separation of 16/17 year olds from adult prisoners. We spoke to around 20 young men in a lively session and there is the potential to capture their views in a more structured way in future. We were shown round the unit and discovered the importance of shampoo and pot noodles as symbols of status (cigarettes are not allowed).
