Linda MacDonald and I met with staff from Panmure St. Ann’s alternative education provision and senior staff from Edinburgh City Council. The meeting was prompted by an enquiry which raised issues around the amount of time devoted to formal education for children in alternative school settings. The meeting was very informative and helpful in confirming the unique place of the unit in the education provision in Edinburgh. There may be a more general issue in terms of HMIE coverage with regard to similar units across the country.
I spoke at a parliamentary reception on behalf of the International Play Association. I learned a lot about the history of the IPA and was pleased to make my own modest contribution to the evening.
