I met with Allyson Pollock, Professor in Public Health at Edinburgh University. Allyson has an interest on the issue of sports related injury to children, particularly related to injuries sustained playing rugby. I outlined the strategic approach of the office and discussed relative priorities in terms of the wide range of issues and judgements to be made.
I met with Anne Marie Carrie (Chief Executive, Barnardos) and Martin Crewe (Director, Barnardos Scotland). This was an introductory meeting and covered broad areas of policy and practice in relation to children and young people
I travelled to Cardiff and had an evening meal with speakers attending the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health conference the next day – it was a useful time to catch up with Keith Towler (Children’s Commissioner, Wales) and Patricia Lewsley (Children’s Commissioner, NI).
