Katie and I attended the ENOC conference in Strasbourg. The theme of the conference was promoting participation of young people. There was a parallel conference for young people resulting in a joint session on 8 October. There were inputs from representative of EU and Council of Europe. The joint session was held in the Council of Europe building and Thomas Hammarberg, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, was present for most of this session.
There was discussion on ENOC as an organisation and it was agreed this should form a significant element of the next ENOC meeting – to enable ENOC to maximise its influence in EU and Council of Europe forum.
Katie and I presented the work of a RIGHT blether on the morning of 9 October. It was very well received, and I am sure made a mark in terms of the work of the office on promoting the effective participation of children and young people. This may lead to follow up with colleagues within ENOC and beyond.
