I spoke at a conference entitled Scotland’s Got Talent – Keith Brown, Minister for Skills, also on the bill. This was an event hosted by a number of organisations involved with young people with additional support needs and attended by 300 young people and support staff, with a further 450 on the reserve list. There was a very special and moving section where young people in employment did a fashion show in the clothes they wore to work – and were then interviewed by Susan Morrison – a real privilege to be there.
I visited St. John Bosco’s Primary School in Erskine. I was shown round the school by a group of six pupils and then was part of a school show that involved all 125 pupils and around 50 staff and parents. Each primary class showcased work around UNCRC and every one of the seven classes had a song about children’s rights. This school had recently taken part in the Dundee GLOW meet so I was a familiar face to them.
