This year's Festival of Politics will run for four days on Friday 17th, Saturday 18th, Friday 24th and Saturday 25th August.
The theme for this year’s festival will complement the Year of Creative Scotland, allowing the programme of events to celebrate and promote not only Scotland’s vibrant culture and creativity but more widely the links between creativity culture and politics.
Please feel free to download these flyers for events that may be of particular interest to you - many of which are FREE to attend:
Since it began in 2005, the Festival has attracted major participants including leading journalists Andrew Marr, Polly Toynbee, and Kate Adie; campaigning artists such as Annie Lennox, Vanessa Redgrave, and Mark Thomas; and renowned politicians including Denis Healey, Shirley Williams and Lord Prescott, amongst many others. The innovative nature of the Festival has also been recognised through its nomination for the Hansard Society Award for Political Innovation at the Channel 4 Politics Awards. We regard the Festival as ground breaking and innovative combining the worlds of politics, media and the arts. The Festival of Politics dispels the myth that politics is just for the politicians, showing it to be relevant, vibrant and engaging - a key aspect of our everyday lives.
