Together survey explores training around children’s rights
Together Scotland is conducting research to inform the development of a potential new training programme on children's rights, especially as they relate to the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.
The Act places duties on public bodies to report on steps they have taken to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) every three years. These duties will commence in 2017, before the first reports are due in 2020.
In this context, Together is investigating the possibility of developing a training programme that will assist organisations to support or take forward these new duties. As part of their research, they are mapping the training that is already being provided by charities so that they can look at addressing any gaps in provision. The organisation is also keen to hear from charities that might themselves be interested in receiving training on children's rights, especially relating to the Act or the UNCRC.
